We arrived from Japan to Los Angeles and took care of some errands that needed to be wrapped up. We drove to Yosemite for a few days of bouldering before we would have to spend a week in LA. I had never been to Yosemite before. Star and I were very excited to finally visit the international climbing mecca. We used a rented cabin in Curry Village as our base while in the valley. Our morning essentially went like this: coffee, carb breakfast, and off to boulder. The temps were fine everyday until noon. Then after 4 we were able to find nice temps in the shade again. I have to say that I was not overly impressed with the boulders in the valley that I came across. Most of the boulders are highballs, which I love, but I prefer not to climb on glass. I was also only there for four days did not have a chance to visit many bouldering areas. Maybe it was because we went in September, or maybe it was because I love the steep crimps at Bishop, but either way I will not be going back to boulder.
Saying that, Yosemite is an amazing place. I am looking forward to going back, but next time I will leave the pad at home and bring a rope.
Go Climb Something!!!!
