Just after takeoff one a flight to Hawaii a couple weeks ago, I peered out of my window and watched to world that I have grown so intimate with pass under me. Town after town then mountain village after mountain village. The plane circled about smoothly and with enough force that pushed me deeper into my seat. Then, in an instant, there she was. Her dominance of the horizon juts skyward with victory. The haze of the mountains leading to Fuji san was for a lack of better words, breathtaking. I pulled out my camera with just enough time to snap this photo. I sat back, lowered my window shade and closed my eyes to dream about the mountain that I love and respect.
