After a quick trip to Hueco right after landing in the states, I boarded a plane for Spain. This trip is centered around capturing a couple of Japanese climbers, Yuji Hirayama and Sachi Amma, on their visit to this climber’s paradise.
After a rendezvous at the car rental counter, we headed for Cornudella. We found our accommodations very easily, unloaded the car and headed straight for Margalef! There is too much rock here to not start climbing right away. Not to mention everyone is psyched!
Warm ups, sussing out where routes are and approach times helped wear off most of the jet lag. We mainly climbed at the roadside areas. There are some good warmups here and killer projects at this short, but highly concentrated sector.
As the trip so far has proven thus far, we are spending one day in Suirana and the next in Margalef followed by a rest day. There are to many routes going down each day by both Yuji and Sachi to mention, but let’s just say that the next post is going to be jammed packed with send photos and tick lists that include 9a redpoints and 8b+ onsights. Stay tuned!!!!
